Teaching Dividend
Program Aim
The Teaching Dividend will allocate 6 per cent of operating grant money to faculties in proportion to their relative teaching quality as measured by a series of Teaching Performance Indicators.
Criteria
Faculties achieve a score based on their performance in the following Performance Indicators:
- Student Progress Rate (SPR)
SPR is the ratio of the passed Unit of Study load (EFTSU) to the total certified Unit of Study load aggregated to the faculty level and expressed as a percentage. The difference between the faculty's SPR and the comparable Go7 average is the indicator of a faculty's performance. The faculty score is then weighted by 2. - First to Second Year Retention
Retention within the University of Sydney expressed as a percentage. The difference between the faculty's retention rate and the University average is the indicator of a faculty's performance. From 2005, this measure will be derived from comparative Go7 data sourced from DEST and the indicator will be the difference between Go7 averages for fields of study represented in the faculty and the faculty's retention rate. The faculty score is then weighted by 2. - SCEQ Good Teaching
The difference between Good Teaching Scale (GTS) scores on the undergraduate Student Course Experience Survey (SCEQ) administered annually by the Institute for Teaching and Learning and estimated Go7 averages for fields of study represented in the faculty. The faculty score is then weighted by 2. - SCEQ Generic Skills
The difference between Generic Skills Scale (GSS) scores on the undergraduate SCEQ and estimated Go7 averages for fields of study represented in the faculty. The faculty score is then weighted by 2. - SCEQ Overall Satisfaction
The difference between Overall Satisfaction Scale (OSS) scores on the undergraduate SCEQ and estimated Go7 averages for fields of study represented in the faculty. The faculty score is then weighted by 2. - Good Teaching
The difference between Good Teaching Scale (GTS) scores on the Graduate Course Experience Questionnaire (GCCA CEQ) and the Go7 averages for fields of study represented in the faculty. The faculty score is then weighted by 1. - CEQ Generic Skills
The difference between Generic Skills Scale (GSS) scores on the Graduate Course Experience Questionnaire (GCCA CEQ) and the Go7 averages for fields of study represented in the faculty. The faculty score is then weighted by 1. - CEQ Overall Satisfaction
The difference between Overall Satisfaction Scale (OSS) scores on the Graduate Course Experience Questionnaire (GCCA CEQ) and the Go7 averages for fields of study represented in the faculty. The faculty score is then weighted by 1. - Full-Time Employment
The difference between a faculty's full-time Employment Rate (expressed as a percentage) and Go7 averages for the fields of study represented in the faculty from the Graduate Destinations Survey (GDS). The faculty score is then weighted by 2. - Full-Time Further Study
The difference between a faculty's full-time Further Study Rate (expressed as a percentage) and Go7 averages for the fields of study represented in the faculty from the Graduate Destinations Survey (GDS). The faculty score is then weighted by 2.
