Linkages through government

ARC's Linkage Project Grant Scheme

A Linkage Project is a research project funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC) and jointly initiated and undertaken by the University together with an industry partner. The scheme matches cash and in-kind contributions by industry to fund specific projects as well as Australian Postdoctoral Fellowships (Industry) and Australian Postgraduate Awards (Industry).

At Sydney University the Research Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences (RIHSS) can provide information about linkage partnerships in the humanities, arts and social sciences.

The Research Office supports the researchers involved in Linkage Projects, and assists with compliance and applications, and liaison with industry and government.

ARC Research networks

The ARC Research network program is designed to encourage collaborative approaches to research in inter-disciplinary settings. Networks link researchers, research groups and others involved in innovation; nationally and internationally.

University of Sydney humanities and social science researchers are involved the in University of Sydney based ARC Research Network in Ageing Well. University of Sydney senior academic staff are also involved in the University of Queensland based Cultural Research Network and the University of Western Australia based ARC Research Network for Early European Research.

The ARC Research Network on Ageing Well is led by Professor Hal Kendig, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences. This project will receive $2.5m over five years to support interdisciplinary, high quality research into ageing and will link researchers from areas such as nurture development, and social and health disciplines. It will foster research which responds to the aspirations and needs of older Australians and inform action that can improve experiences of individual and population ageing. This project will help to advance the National Research Priority of Promoting and Maintaining Good Health.
