Advanced materials
This is underpinned by major research themes of materials characterisation; materials design and manufacture; nano-materials; nano-science; plastics and polymers; biomaterials and biocompatible materials; and ceramics.
Advanced Materials incorporates five Federation Fellows (Professors Mai, Eggleton, Stampfl, Maschmeyer and Bilek) and a Major National Research Facility (the Nanostructural Analysis Network Organisation, or NANO). It also takes into account a current ARC Key Centre (Key Centre for Polymer Colloids), a former ARC Key Centre (The Australian Key Centre for Microscopy and Microanalysis), and the former CRC's for Molecular Engineering and Australian Photonics CRC.
