Research support

We provide first class support to help researchers seek funding. We also provide strategic advice and direction on research programs.

  • The Research Office - provides administrative support to researchers seeking internal and external funding for research and higher degree scholarships. It assists with compliance and guidelines, liaison with funding agencies and post-award monitoring of research outcomes.
  • Stategic Research Development Unit - is dedicated to helping researchers to gain external support for their research programs, and provides strategic advice and direction on research programs and funding opportunities.
  • Research Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences (RIHSS) supports research initiatives, develops grant proposals, organises public events, houses research fellows and visitors, and provides an interface between the humanities and social sciences faculties and the broader public.

Scheme Aim
Major Equipment Scheme
  • to provide funding of more than $2 million a year for major equipment.
Research and Development Scheme
  • to support, on a competitive basis, high quality research projects promising to deliver external funding.
Bridging Support Fellowship Scheme
  • designed to offer applicants a continuation of salary for a period of up to one year at the end of an externally funded Fellowship from a peak funding agency (e.g. ARC, NHMRC etc).
Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Scheme
  • to award up to 10 new fellowships annually to early career researchers.
University of Sydney Cancer Research Fund
  • to support, on a competitive basis, high quality research projects into cancer.
