The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) is a key leadership role that oversees strategically our research performance, infrastructure, engagement, and impact, this is an exciting opportunity for a senior academic and research leader with a clear commitment to both research excellence and impact to make their mark at one of the world’s great research universities.
With the University beginning to develop a new strategy plan in 2022, this role will also provide a unique opportunity to help shape the future of the institution over the next decade – and the successful candidate would have a key role in the Executive in helping to drive the execution.
The appointee will bring considerable scholarly credibility and deep understanding of academic research metrics, markers of esteem, and funding environments.
They will marry their capacity to engage with the academic and research community (within and outside the University) with commercial nous and clear appreciation of industry, government, and community engagement in areas of research commercialisation, translation and impact.
Visionary and ambitious, they will oversee both strategy and operations across the Research Portfolio, promoting an ethos of multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional collaboration and a culture of service excellence in the delivery of research management across the University.
They will also bring outstanding interpersonal and communication skills as required of a member of the Senior Executive reporting to the Vice-Chancellor. Marked by personal attributes of integrity, academic rigour, and entrepreneurship, the incoming Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) will be values-driven and inspired by the University’s commitment to positive impact on and “leadership for good” in the communities we serve.
