Long service leave review

The University has been undertaking a review of its payroll systems and processes to identify and remediate any past incorrect payments.

As part of this extensive work, the University is conducting a review of its compliance with long service leave obligations.

This review is currently at an early stage, and more information will be shared with our former and current staff as it becomes available.

Questions and answers

It is a review of the University’s compliance with its long service obligations including leave accrual, payments and recordkeeping for all University staff.

The preliminary findings of the review have identified some areas of concern with our long service leave obligations. Given the review is at an early stage, it is not yet confirmed whether this has resulted in incorrect long service leave balances or payments. The University has notified the NSW Department Industrial Relations, Fair Work Ombudsman and staff unions of the potential non-compliance.

The long service leave review is currently being completed. If the review identifies that the University holds incorrect long service leave balances or has made incorrect long service leave payments, a detailed analysis will follow to calculate remediation for affected former and current employees. The University is committed to remediating incorrect balances or payments identified as soon as possible. The University would also ensure our systems and processes are compliant with our long service leave obligations.
