The China Studies Centre at the University of Sydney represents the largest collection in Australia of academic expertise who research China and Chinese culture. Its 73 members are drawn from the social sciences, business studies, the humanities, science, law, architecture, and music.
The Centre has three major research strengths: local governance; philosophy and culture; environment and health. At the same time it supports a range of 14 more specific projects on a range of topics including teaching Chinese; translation; China-Australia relations; Party history; and local theatre.
Located within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, he China Studies Centre has an active program of events directed at audiences outside the University of Sydney, including its International Research Webinars; Inside China Seminars; Sydney China Seminars; Talks in Chinese Humanities; and regular book launches for the publications of its members.
