Special Consideration Request for DEC 10

This form is to be used to request special consideration for a specific DEC assessment task.

READ THIS INFORMATION CAREFULLY BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION FOR SPECIAL CONSIDERATION.

  • Requests for special consideration must be submitted up to 24 hours before or within 48 hours after the assessment task that you are requesting special consideration for. Applications made outside this timeframe will not be considered unless there is evidence of exceptional circumstances.
  • Special consideration may be granted for compassionate and compelling circumstances including:
    • Illness or injury
    • An accident or traumatic experience
    • Death of a family member
    • Technical issues in online exams where reasonable checks on your part could not have avoided the problem
    • Unforeseen disruption to online exam eg. forced evacuation of your building
  • You should attach supporting evidence to your application eg. medical documents, police reports, screenshots or video of technical issues with the time and date clearly visible.
  • Circumstances that are NOT eligible for special consideration include:
    • Minor illnesses or ailments such as a cold or headache
    • Confusion about time zone differences
    • Technical issues where reasonable checks on your part could have avoided the issue (eg. reasonable checks include completing the ProctorU practice test before attempting a proctored assessment task)
  • Process

    If your application for special consideration is successful, you will be offered a resit of the relevant assessment task. The result of this resit will be the final grade for the assessment task. Your original result, if any, will no longer be valid. In submitting this request for special consideration, you acknowledge this condition.

    Students will be notified of the outcome of their application via their University email account. Where possible, a decision will be reached within 10 working days.
