Jennifer Lang, CET’s Student Experience Officer, and Iris Loba, CET’s Public Relations & Events Coordinator, attended the ABC Education Forum earlier this month with a group of CET students and alumni. Students and participants were asked to share their thoughts and ideas on how ABC could develop their content strategy and improve the access to information. CET celebrated the hard work and achievements of the CET Leaders Network by a lunch celebration earlier this month. The CET Leaders developed and delivered student-led events and activities and have supported various CET initiatives. They have been extremely helpful in welcoming new CET students and facilitating their integration to the Centre and the University. Find out more on the CET Leaders Network: here
December marks the end of another busy year for the Centre. CET welcomed over 4,000 students across a variety of English language, teacher training and academic preparation programs . The Centre also inducted 26 new teachers.
CET has been commended throughout the year with staff members being awarded recognition and awards in several categories.
In January 2018, CET is launching a brand new English language program: Global English. The new and innovative language course creates a meaningful learning environment by connecting the outside world with the classroom. Global English is preparing students for the global world by focusing on 3 learning outcomes: language skills, global skills and 21st century skills.

In 2017, the Centre welcomed 781 students in fully customised and hybrid programs. In 2018, CET is expecting 353 students for season 1, from January to March 2018.

After a busy 2017, the Centre is looking forward to welcoming 2018. Here are a few words about next year’s focus points from CET Director, Katherine Olston: “2018 promises to be another year full of innovation and change, with the imminent launch of the new Global English program, a renewed focus on research-based curriculum design and the development of our capacity to leverage learning analytics to track student progress and inform curriculum development”.
The Centre for English Teaching and the University of Sydney will be closed over the holiday period, starting from Saturday 23rd December until Sunday 7th January 2017.
