About this honours subject area

The minimum requirement for entry into fourth year honours in Econometrics is an average of 70% or above and a major in the intended subject area.

The honours year requires 48 credit points including:

  • 24 credit points of 4000-level honours thesis units of study
  • 24 credit points of 4000-level honours seminar units of study. 

Graduate opportunities

Many of those who have graduated with Honours in Economics from the University of Sydney now have top jobs in government institutions like the Departments of Treasury and Finance, the Reserve Bank and the Australian Bureau of Statistics or in private banks or other financial institutions. Many others are academic economists, while some have won fame in the political arena.
