An honours year in Food and Agribusiness/Food Science builds your expertise in the food and agribusiness sector, with a focus on the science underpinning food products and processes. Food Science is central to ensuring the safety, quality, sustainability, nutrition and innovation of the global food supply—addressing challenges such as population growth, climate change, nutritional security, and consumer demand for novel products. Drawing on its interdisciplinary and applied nature, the program complements many other areas of the life and environmental sciences. As part of this honours course, you’ll undertake an independent research project under the guidance of expert academic supervisors, supported by advanced coursework to sharpen your technical, analytical, and critical thinking skills. You’ll produce a portfolio of written and oral work that demonstrates your expertise and prepares you for careers in research, industry, or further study at a higher degree level.
Food Science projects are available to any student graduated with a major in Food and Agribusiness/Food Science or equivalent stream/degree/major.
Unit of study requirements for Honours in Food and Agribusiness/Food Science: completion of 24 credit points of project work and typically 24 credit points of advanced coursework including 6cp work integrated learning for Food and Agribusiness stream.
