Anatomy and Histology Honours Project B - ANAT4104

Year - 2020

The Discipline of Anatomy and Histology intensively researches diverse challenges to our health and society in the context of structure-function relationships in biological systems. Our academic supervisors offer projects in the fields of comparative anatomy, forensic osteology, cardiac function, chronic pain, dementia, skin cancer, reproduction, cataract, and marine biology. By undertaking an Honours project in our discipline you will have the opportunity to design and carry out experiments, to collect and analyse appropriate data, to statistically evaluate your experimental results, and to interpret the findings in relation to previous literature. In addition, you will be part of a diverse cohort of young researchers, that will expose you to a variety of advanced scientific methodologies and technical skills, and develop critical appraisal skills of research beyond your own topic. On successful completion of the honours year you will have developed essential research attributes including analytical, critical-thinking, communication and laboratory research skills. You will also leave with in-depth specialist knowledge of your chosen research area and all the tools necessary to pursue post-graduate research or other related medical science careers.
