In celebration of our 175th anniversary, guided by our founding principles of merit and equity, we're proud to partner with the Sydney Opera House.
This partnership brings together two of Sydney's most iconic institutions, united by a history of close collaboration and a shared mission to inspire and educate their communities, to foster lifelong learning, support emerging talent, and create platforms for critical thinking and global dialogue.
The partnership will provide opportunities for our community to engage with ideas and experiences that tackle the great challenges of our time.
Throughout 2025 and 2026, the University of Sydney and the Sydney Opera House will co-present events featuring leading thinkers from around the world, inspiring curiosity, creativity and positive social change.
We're working on our next event. In the meantime, see what's on at Sydney Ideas, our flagship public talks program.
Sir Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web, joined University of Sydney Vice-Chancellor Mark Scott on 30 January 2026 for a conversation exploring his world-changing invention and his vision for an open, decentralised web in an era of AI and ethics.
Our first event, Curious, brought culture, creativity and ideas together on the Sydney Opera House stage on 28 September, 2025.
Sessions featured University of Sydney experts discussing topics including Is this AI's Black Mirror Moment? and Gender and Power.
