Sydney Engineering Innovation Series

Showcasing our latest research in engineering and computer science
Our Sydney Engineering Innovation Series offers a forum to showcase how our researchers and students are using their knowledge and skills to impact lives in Australia and around the world.

Date: Tuesday 18 August and Tuesday 25 August, 2020

The theme explored “Digital Futures” and showcased the latest research being conducted in the areas of Cloud Computing and the Internet of Things.

Professor Albert Zomaya from the Centre for Distributed and High Performance Computing showcased research in Edge Computing: Empowering the next Digital Transformation.

Edge Computing pushes the frontier of applications, data, and services away from centralised models to distributed extremes of a network.

Professor Branka Vucetic and her team from the Centre for IoT and Telecommunications are pioneering Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) research.

Their focus included 5G cellular, WiFi and satellite systems, networked control for industrial robots, advanced error control coding, cyber security, distributed AI, and their integration into cyber-physical systems.
