NSW Local Government and Affordable Housing Forum

Local councils are increasingly driving the delivery of affordable housing in NSW. This forum invites NSW local councillors, council leaders, planners, and staff to explore practical strategies for expanding their impact—from developing affordable housing strategies and programs, to partnering with community housing providers, navigating inclusionary zoning and even councils delivering their own social and affordable rental housing on council land.

This one-day forum will bring together councillors and leading housing researchers to discuss the challenges and opportunities of NSW’s planning framework, and highlight successful council-led initiatives to protect, promote and expand housing that is genuinely affordable and that meets the diverse needs of local communities.

This forum is hosted by the University of Sydney's Henry Halloran Urban and Regional Research Initiative, in coordination with the Office of Councillor Sylvie Ellsmore, City of Sydney Council.
