Insertion of prohibited unit: ECON1003

No student in any degree administered by the Faculty of Science (including those degrees jointly administered by the Faculty of Science and another faculty) shall be permitted to undertake ECON1003. No exception is made for students in the BSc/BA or the BLAS degrees. ECON1003 has been deemed mutually exclusive with units in Table 1 – namely MATH1111, MATH1011, MATH1001, MATH1901 and MATH1906.

Students in the BSc/BA or the BLAS degrees wishing to complete an Economics major are not affected, as ECON1003 does not form part of the major.

Students wishing to undertake ECON1003 should consider taking one of MATH1111, MATH1011, MATH1001, MATH1901 and MATH1906 instead.

Students in any degree administered by the Faculty of Science who have completed ECON1003 as part of their degree prior to 2014 shall be made an exception. They will be permitted to count ECON1003 towards completion of their degree.

Insertion of prohibited unit: BUSS1020

No student in any degree administered by the Faculty of Science (including those degrees jointly administered by the Faculty of Science and another faculty) shall be permitted to undertake BUSS1020. This unit has been has been deemed mutually exclusive with units in Table 1 – namely MATH1005, MATH1015 and MATH1905.

Eligibility


Students may only take electives from other faculties if this is permissible under the course resolutions of their degree or award course. The following table provides a guide to eligibility.

Students are obliged to familiarise themselves with the course resolutions of their degree or award course. Elective units must be selected with regard to course resolutions.

Students should consult the Handbooks of other faculties to determine whether they satisfy any prerequisites, corequisites or other requirements relating to enrolment in units of study offered by other faculties.

Prohibited units

ECMT1010

No student in any degree administered by the Faculty of Science (including those degrees jointly administered by the Faculty of Science and another faculty) shall be permitted to undertake ECMT1010. No exception is made for students in the BSc/BA or the BLAS degrees. ECMT1010 has been deemed mutually exclusive with units in Table 1 - namely MATH1005, MATH1015 and MATH1905.

If their degree resolutions allow, students may enrol into ECMT1020 or intermediate Econometrics and Economics units of study. These units are NOT deemed mutually exclusive with Table 1.

Students in the BSc/BA or the BLAS degrees wishing to complete an Economics major should take one of MATH1005, MATH1015 or MATH1905 in lieu of ECMT1010. Where successful completion of ECMT1010 is a necessary prerequisite for entry into another unit of study (eg, ECMT1020 or intermediate Econometrics units), successful completion of MATH1005, MATH1015 or MATH1905 shall be accepted as fulfilling that component of the prerequisite.

Any BSc/BA or BLAS degree students who have completed ECMT1010 prior to 2013 shall be made an exception. They will be permitted to count ECMT1010 towards completion of their degree.

Affected BSc/BA degree students should seek degree planning advice from the Faculty of Science directly.

Affected BLAS degree students should seek degree planning advice from the BLAS degree coordinators -

(Science stream) and (Arts stream).
STAT1021 and ENVX1001

No student in any degree administered by the Faculty of Science (including those degrees jointly administered by the Faculty of Science and another faculty) shall be permitted to undertake STAT1021 or ENVX1001. These units have also been has been deemed mutually exclusive with units in Table 1 - namely MATH1005, MATH1015 and MATH1905.
