Master of Exercise Physiology

Course overview

You will complete a total of 96 credit points of core units of study to qualify for the award of the Master of Exercise Physiology degree.

Throughout this two-year degree, students gain a comprehensive understanding of exercise physiology including metabolism and physiology, human motor learning and control, the principles of exercise programming, nutrition and pharmacology, and musculoskeletal principles of exercise. Integrated clinical practice instruction, practicums, and case studies will provide the advanced skills and experience essential for professional practice.

As part of your degree you will complete over 500 hours of clinical training across both the public and private sectors, through which you will learn to apply your knowledge and work within a range of different clinical settings.

Professional accreditation

The Master of Exercise Physiology course is accredited at the level of exercise physiology by the National Universities Course Accreditation Program (NUCAP) of Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA). Graduates are eligible for exercise physiology accreditation by ESSA. A condition of eligibility for exercise physiology accreditation is having exercise science accreditation from ESSA. In Australia, accredited Exercise Physiologists are eligible to provide services under Medicare, the Department of Veterans Affairs, WorkCover and private health insurance funds.
