About Majors and Minors

What are majors and minors?

Majors and minors are defined sequences of units of study that develop a student’s depth of expertise in one subject area.

A major consists of 48 credit points in 1000, 2000 and 3000-level units of study in a single subject area.

A major must contain a 3000-level project unit and a 3000-level unit in which a student develops the capability to utilise disciplinary knowledge in an interdisciplinary context.

A major subject area is listed on your testamur.

A minor consists of 36 credit points in 1000, 2000 and 3000 level units of study in a single subject area. Minors are not listed on your testamur.
