Drum Set
Students undertaking the Performance Stream must complete:
(a) 72 credit points of Principal Study units: Drum set 1-2, 3-8 (Extended)*
*Please note Drum set 3-8 (Extended) will be introduced in 2021.
DRUM1601 Drum Set 1
Credit points: 6 Teacher/Coordinator: Dr Simon Barker Session: Semester 1,Semester 2 Classes: weekly lessons Assumed knowledge: Students enrolling must have fundamentals of drum set performance and some performance experience in place. Assessment: 1 x Final exam- Teacher Grade (60%), 1 x Final exam Process Assessment (30%), 1 x continuous assessment/engagement with materials (10%) Mode of delivery: Normal (lecture/lab/tutorial) day
The subject will offer students a firm technical and theoretical grounding, a range of problem-solving skills, and a variety of developmental processes, thus equipping students with a broad skill set to face challenges associated within an ever changing and evolving music industry landscape. In addition, students will be provided with a broad historical perspective, as well as a large pool of creative co-ordination processes associated with a range of stylistic areas to equip individuals with a thorough grounding in time-keeping, motion-based problem solving, stylistic knowledge and ability, and procedural problem-solving and critical thinking.
