The Cultural Competence for HDR students OLE aims to introduce cultural appropriate research to higher research students by providing an overview of what cultural competence is, its relevance to research, and how researchers can engage with it throughout their research process. Using case studies, the unit introduces principles that are applicable for responding to cultural diversity in general, and specific knowledge and skills related to particular groups, supporting students to engage with issues of cultural competence in their own research project. Students will apply their acquired skills and knowledge on the development of a poster presentation to be presented in a mini-conference.
