Course resolutions

The course resolutions detailed in this page apply to all courses included in the table below under section 1 (course codes).

These resolutions must be read in conjunction with applicable University By-laws, Rules and policies including  (but not limited to) the University of Sydney (Coursework) Rule 2014 (the 'Coursework Rule'), the Coursework Policy 2021 (the 'Coursework Policy'), the Learning and Teaching Policy 2019, the Resolutions of the Faculty, University of Sydney (Student Academic Appeals) Rule 2021, the Academic Integrity Policy 2022 and the Academic Integrity Procedures 2022. 2  Attendance pattern

The attendance pattern for this course is full time or part time according to candidate choice.

3  Faculty management

(1) Candidates in the Advanced Diploma of Foundation Studies will be under the supervision of the faculty which is responsible for management of the Bachelor (Extended) degree in which the candidate is enrolled.

(2) The faculty which is responsible for management of the Bachelor (Extended) degree in which the candidate is enrolled shall exercise authority in any matter concerned with the Advanced Diploma of Foundation Studies degree not otherwise dealt with in these resolutions.

4  Admission to candidature

(1) The Advanced Diploma of Foundation Studies will not be offered to commencing candidates. It will be made available only as an exit point for candidates wishing to abandon their candidature from one of the following courses:

(a) Bachelor of Arts (Extended);

(b) Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Science (Extended); or

(c) Bachelor of Science (Extended).

(2) Candidates will only be allowed admission after 72 credit points of the above degrees following academic advice from and approval by the Associate Dean (Education) of the faculty which is responsible for the Bachelor (Extended) degree in which the candidate is enrolled.

5  Requirements for award

(1)  To qualify for the award, a student must successfully complete 72 credit points, including:

(a) 24 credit points of Foundation units of study from Table E; and

(b) a minimum of 48 credit points from either of the following courses:

(i) Bachelor of Arts (Extended);

(ii) Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Science (Extended); or

(iii) Bachelor of Science (Extended).

6  Cross-institutional study

(1) Cross-institutional study is not available in this course.

7  International exchange

(1)  International exchange programs are not available in this course.

8  Course transfer

(1) Candidates who transfer into the Advanced Diploma of Foundation Studies are not permitted to transfer into any other course.

9  Transitional provisions

These resolutions apply to students who commenced their candidature after 1 January 2022.
