Physical Activity and Health

About the major

A major in Physical Activity and Health will allow you to develop knowledge and understanding of human structure and function to allow safe and effective implementation of exercise and physical activity.

Integrating knowledge from the basic, applied and social sciences you will implement exercise and physical activity with an evidence-based practice approach. The Physical Activity and Health major includes projects drawing on a variety of tools, media and strategies appropriate to facilitate engagement with audiences from different backgrounds and life stages.  You will understand physiological responses to acute exercise and training programs and integrate skill acquisition and nutrition knowledge and skills into the broader exercise and physical activity recommendations.

2 Engage others from different backgrounds and at different life stages in physical activity projects and programs using a variety of tools, media and strategies appropriate to that audience.
3 Incorporate principles of motor control and learning as well as fundamental nutrition knowledge into holistic programs for exercise training through synthesis of evidence, critical reflection and inventiveness
4 Demonstrate the ability to interpret findings and problem solve in a range of health and performance contexts, using evidence to continue to refine best practise
