Food Science

Honours unit of study table (Table A)

Honours in Food Science is available via an appended or an embedded or an integrated Honours, depending on the degree a student is enrolled in. Students are required to undertake 24-credit points of research project, as well as two 6-credit point coursework units that will aid in the development of fundamental research, ethical and communication skills. A further 12-credit points of coursework is required to complete the degree requirements for the Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Advanced Studies, if not completed already, these could be used to complete a second major. Honours is available to students who have a completed a major in an area relevant to their project and have met the requirements outlined in the resolutions. Admittance into the program is determined by the Faculty of Science as well as the Honours Coordinator.

The Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Honours) (Food Science) requires 36 credit points from this table including:
(i) 6 credit points of 4000-level Honours coursework core units, and
(ii) 6 credit points of 4000-level Honours coursework selective units, and
(iii) 24 credit points of 4000-level Honours research project units

6 A Completion of a major in a science discipline. Basic knowledge of other sciences is beneficial. Experience in communication such as delivering oral presentations and producing written reports. An awareness of science in a societal context, e.g., of disciplinary applications

Mid-year honours students would take this unit of study in S1 (their second semester of study).
