The psycho-social impact of having a parent with younger onset dementia

Before this project there was very little research evidence available on how having a parent with younger onset dementia affects young people.

The project team evaluated the impact of having a parent with younger onset dementia (under 65 years of age) and the effects on young people aged between ages 10-24 years, who are in the family.

The research found a lack of understanding of what resources and services are available to help and recommended a more inclusive, cross-sectorial cooperation that actively links youth and dementia service providers.
