	Part of the Gore Hill Reserve, half a mile to the west of the original site, was set aside to build a new hospital capable of expansion to meet future needs. It is of interest that the area derived its name from William Gore, who died there, ‘in exile’, in 1845. He had come to Australia in 1806 as Provost-Marshal to Governor Bligh. He was prominent in the arrest of Captain John Macarthur which led to the revolt by the NSW Corps and subsequent imprisonment of Bligh.
