The Chau Chak Wing Museum on the Road: The Journey

Pop-up school holiday program
Wednesday 9 October: These school holidays, the Chau Chak Wing Museum is taking the fun on the road and hosting a free pop-up children’s workshop at PHIVE in Parramatta Square.

Join us for a free workshop with archaeologists, historians and artists from the University of Sydney's Chau Chak Wing Museum taking place at PHIVE in Parramatta Square.

Families can choose between two sessions on Wednesday 9 October: 10am-12pm or 1pm-3pm.

You will explore the Chau Chak Wing Museum’s collection through the theme of journeys, handle objects and artefacts from the museum’s collection and engage in activities centering around:

  • artefacts from the ancient Egyptian world
  • ancient writing and symbols from Mesopotamian artefacts and their similar uses today
  • the evolution of photographic technology
  • the history of Parramatta through archival photographs

The workshop includes a creative writing session designed by poet Sara Saleh. Trace your personal journey alongside real museum objects, and graffiti our wall to match your theme.

Ideal for Ages 8-14.
