The centre is supported by experts across the University's faculties, schools and research centres. 

The centre is assisted with its external positioning by a Panel of Advisors.

Members of this panel have expertise in Australia-China business and government relations and are appointed by the Vice-Chancellor.

The Panel of Advisors of the China Studies Centre will:

  • provide advice and support to the centre on its external positioning
  • assist the University in finding support to maintain the centre
  • provide linkages to business, government and local communities.

The Executive Committee is comprised of the senior academic and administrative staff. It has oversight of all activities and provides advice and makes recommendations to the Director and Deputy Director on the centre's operation.

Membership of the Executive Committee is approved every two years.

The Executive Committee:

  • meets four times a year
  • may be chaired by the Director, the Deputy Director or a member of the Executive Elects one of its number to be chair, every three years
  • may co-opt additional members in an advisory capacity.

The Executive Committee of the China Studies Centre will:

  • provide advice and support to the Director and Deputy Director
  • ensure that the centre is effective in linking China studies across the University with the activities, academic and otherwise, supported by the centre
  • endorse recommendations from the sub-committees of the Executive Committee
  • contribute to the development of strategic plans and directions for the centre
  • assist in the implementation of operational plans
  • advise on policy pertaining to the centre
  • consult and advise on the annual program of academic and outreach activities

The Research Committee considers matters referred to it by the Executive Committee. It makes recommendations for allocation of resources under the centre’s various research support programs to the Executive Committee. The Research Committee also makes recommendations on the structure and operation of research support programs.

The Research Committee is nominated every two years by the Executive Committee members of the China Studies Centre.

Terms of reference

  • The Research Committee is a sub-committee of the Executive Committee.
  • It provides advice and makes recommendation to the Executive Committee on the centre’s research activities.
  • The Research Committee makes recommendations to the Executive Committee on the allocation of resources provided for in the centre’s various research support programs.
  • The Research Committee considers any matters referred to it by the Executive Committee.
