This project aims to compare the health practitioner complaints investigation and management processes undertaken in NSW by the health Professional Councils Authority with the processes of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, which operates in the remaining states and territories. To date, there has been no systematic objective comparison of the different complaints investigation processes. This study will be highly significant as it will be first of its kind in Australia and will provide insight into complaints handling and notification at a state and national level. The national scheme itself is the subject of attention for many other countries and the study will be ground breaking both in its methods and its focus.
