People with Parkinson's disease are twice as likely to report chronic pain as people in the general older population. There is emerging evidence from laboratory-based studies that exercise may be able to influence the pathophysiology of pain in Parkinson's disease. This project will develop clinical assessment tools to assist with the diagnosis and classification of pain, explore any influence of exercise on pain responses in the short term, and develop and test longer term exercise interventions designed to reduce pain in people with Parkinson's disease.
