Development of low-profile sensing techniques for stealthy robotic platforms in unstructured environments. This includes minimising electromagnetic and acoustic signatures while performing mission requirements.
In the defence and security context it is likely that robotic systems must at some point operate in the presence of a technically adept adversary. The need for stealth and constrained electro-magnetic spectrum will necessitate passive means of localisation and an increased level of autonomy. The potential for operating while damaged will also provide an interesting challenge. This project will investigate novel low-profile sensing techniques and other methods for evading detection. This project is most suited to mechatronics graduates.
