Program type

Karen's current research focus is upon research capacity strengthening, and the way public health practitioners integrate knowledge and values into practice. She is available to supervise projects in relation to research capacity strengthening in variety of contexts, particularly in relation to health promotion and Indigenous health. Karen is also available to supervise projects that align with the aims and objectives of the Poche Centre for Indigenous Health, with which she is connected.More broadly Karen's interest lies in the operation of power in relation to people's health, and in strengths-based, reciprocal processes in support of community-controlled agendas. She has a passion for decolonising approaches and associated theoretical tools including postcolonialism and critical race theory. Karen is available to supervise students wishing to pursue research of this focus, particularly if using qualitative methods such as ethnography.
