Associate Professor Paul Roche.
Classics and Ancient History, School of Humanities (SOH)
I research and write on the Latin literature of the late republic and the Roman empire, mainly in the period from the first century BCE to the first century CE, but occasionally as late as the fifth century. Within this broader field, I have a number of research interests.
Underpinning all of my research is the goal of relating the formal elements of Latin literature to the material, social, political and historical contexts of its production and reception in antiquity.
