Opportunity to undertake a PhD in neurobiology/cognitive neuroscience
Camperdown - School of Medical Sciences
How do the coordinated interactions among billions of neurons in the brain work together to achieve flexible, creative thought? We are combining insights across neuroscience, psychology, neuroimaging and computational modelling, in order to understand the brain mechanisms of compositional cognition.
We are seeking a talented and self-motivated PhD student who would have the opportunity to develop cognitive tasks and to learn a range of neuroimaging analyses and computational modelling techniques. They would join a vibrant, interdisciplinary team where they can learn from researchers with a variety of different scientific backgrounds. Ideally the student would have undergraduate training in one or more of these fields: neuroscience, psychology, neurobiology, neuropharmacology or physics.
The PhD would be 3.5 years, based at the University of Sydney and supervised by an interdisciplinary team: Dr. Claire O’Callaghan, Dr. Eli Müller and Prof. James “Mac” Shine.
Eligible domestic students and students with permanent residency will be encouraged to apply for a Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship; however the position can be fully funded if an RTP is not awarded.
International students are welcome to enquire, and we are happy to discuss possible options to support funding on an individual basis.
Supervisory team: Dr. Claire O’Callaghan, Dr. Eli Müller and Prof. James “Mac” Shine
