Are you interested in applying your laboratory expertise to the development of new drugs for cancer and other diseases? Become part of a multi-disciplinary team involved in drug discovery
The importance of the over-expression of the EGFR family of receptors in human cancers has been well documented. This project will build upon a preliminary study performed in our laboratories which involved the design of agents which target EGFR dimerisation (using in silico screening), to generate new hit compounds for biological testing in a range of assays already in place, involving cell proliferation, EGFR dimerisation and signalling, and cytotoxicity. The successful student will be involved in all aspects of the project, from molecular modeling, synthesis and characterisation of the hit compounds to biological testing in cell based assays using cancer models with oncogenic EGFR activity.
