Sleep disorders such as sleep apnoea are highly prevalent in the community. Their diagnosis is often time consuming and expensive and their effects on health are often multi-factorial. To date there is a lack of easily deployable cheap tests for detection of sleep disorders, for identification of inter-individual vulnerability to their consequences and inter-individual responses to treatment. This project will explore whether specific sleep disorders can be identified through differential expression of molecular biomarkers that are known to be associated with common disease processes.
