Synopsis

Dr Loughnan supervises students undertaking research on Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Criminal Law theory, Criminal law history and Mental incapacity in criminal law.

Examples of PhD, Masters and Honours theses suprevised (completed and in progress) include the following:

• Patterns of Section 32 Usage for People with Mental Health Disorders and Cognitive Disabilities in the NSW Criminal Justice System;

• Criminal Justice in the High Court

If proposed studies adopt inter-disciplinary approaches, candidates are expected to possess solid and extensive research skills in the relevant area, alongside legal research skills. Interested students must hold an Hons 1 or equivalent degree.
