Postgraduate Scholarship - Seasonal Flu Vaccine Development Project

Summary

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably qualified candidate with a good honours degree in an interdisciplinary field, such as biochemistry, physical chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical science or material science, is required to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in Pharmacy. The project is highly interdisciplinary, involving the use of numerous biophysical methods in order to understand and therein gain insight to enhance the stability of seasonal flu vaccine.

Synopsis

Applicants should have an interest in biotechnology and biophysics and experience in hands on laboratory work using biophysical methods such as light scattering and fluorescence spectroscopy, electron and optical microscopy, chromatographic methods such as SEC-HPLC, and being able to use data analysis software such as MATLAB or Igor Pro would be an added benefit. Applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens.

Additional Information

The scholarship will be valued at the same rate as the Australian Postgraduate Award, and will be indexed annually. It may be renewed for up to three years, subject to satisfactory progress.
