This project is a nexus of materials engineering, microscopy and scientific computing. Using advanced microscopy techniques, you will delve into the rich nanostructures and atomic-scale chemistries of complex solid-state materials.
Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering
Masters/PHD
You will develop the computational analytical capabilities of the advanced instrumentation that currently resides at the University of Sydney node of the Australian Microscopy & Microanalysis Research Facility (ammrf.org.au). In particular, you may analyse the images that are captured with scanning electron microscopes (SEM), transmission electron microscopes (TEM) and atom probe microscopes (APM). You will gain strong mathematical and programming skills, and a background in advanced materials science and engineering concepts.
