Viral Commandeering of Cellular Oncogenic Signalling Pathways

Summary

Cell-to-cell spread of caccinia virus infection induces dramatic rearrangements to cell morphology and alterations to cell behaviour.  This project will study the role of host signalling pathways in eliciting these changes.

Supervisor

Dr Timothy Newsome.

Research location

School of Life and Environmental Sciences

Program type

Masters/PHD

Synopsis

This project involves techniques such as molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, cell culturing, viral genetics and microscopy.  Outcomes of this project are insights into host-pathogen interactions and the regulation of cell behaviour.

Additional information

Applicants will need to be vaccinated with vaccinia virus.
