Use of green materials in concrete structures

Summary

This research will investigate the use of various alternative materials in concrete structures.

Supervisor

Dr Ali Hadigheh.

Research location

Civil Engineering

Program type

Masters/PHD

Synopsis

The use of concrete is increasing due to growing demands for the construction of infrastructures as a result of increasing world population. As a result, consumption of Portland cement has also been increasing. Significant amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) is released into atmosphere during the production of OPC. The rising figure of cement consumptions creates potential problems for the global environment due to substantial amount of greenhouse gases emissions. Therefore, there is interest in developing alternative and green concrete. This research will investigate the use of various alternative materials in structures. Students with background in experimental, analytical, and/or numerical analyses are encouraged to apply by contacting Dr Ali Hadigheh.
