Biologically templated nanomaterials


This project involves the use of biological materials as templates to produce promising materials for high temperature or pressure applications.

The key is to be able to maintain the template structure (even at the nano-scale) during conversion. Various templates and preparation techniques will be studied. Characterisation techniques will include pore size analysis by gas adsorption, thermogravimetric analysis, x-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy.
