About Associate Professor Imke Tammen

My research aims to provide the livestock industries with better tools to manage inherited diseases and to use large animal models to inform our understanding of inherited human diseases.

I have more than 20 years of experience in animal genetics with a focus on the molecular characterisation of inherited diseases in livestock with special expertise in the investigation of animal models for neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis (NCL, Batten disease). A key strength is my multidisciplinary approach with additional research interests in higher education and bioethics.
