About Dr Benjamin E Goldsmith

Research interests include: War and peace; Defence spending; Public opinion and foreign policy; Learning and cognition in international relations and State failure and political instability. Dr. Goldsmith is especially interested in supervising research into the relationship between Australian public opinion and foreign policy.

Dr Benjamin E. Goldsmith's research is in the areas of international relations, comparative foreign policy, and political psychology.

He is the author of the book 'Imitation in International Relations: Observational Learning, Analogies', and 'Foreign Policy in Russia and Ukraine', as well as articles in leading academic journals including European Journal of International Relations, Journal of Peace Research, Journal of Conflict Resolution and Security Studies. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science (Michigan 2001) and an M.A. in Russian Area Studies (Georgetown 1995).

Before joining the University of Sydney in 2008, he previously taught at other universities in Australia, Singapore, and the United States.
