Effect of Cannabidiol (CBD) on Exercise Physiology

We are currently looking for healthy, endurance trained individuals to participate in our trial investigating the effect of cannabidiol (CBD), a non-intoxicating cannabis constituent, on exercise physiology.

Participants will need to attend the Charles Perkins Centre (Camperdown, Sydney) to complete an initial medical screen and two research sessions (approx. 5 hours each). The sessions will involve a controlled bout of running exercise on a treadmill (60 min), a short (30 min) recovery, and an incremental run to volitional exhaustion.

All participants will be reimbursed for their time and have the opportunity to complete a VO2max test.

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

  • are male
  • are 18-45 years old
  • are an endurance trained runner (running >40km/week on average)
  • can sustain moderate intensity exercise for >60 minutes
  • have not used cannabis or CBD in the past 3 months
  • are willing to provide (small) blood and urine samples
