Medical tourism: Australian perspectives and experiences

This research study seeks to examine how Australians engage in and understand traveling overseas for medical procedures.

Have you or someone you know recently travelled overseas from Australia for a medical procedure? We invite participants who are Australian residents aged over 18 years and have travelled overseas for a medical procedure in the last 12 months to complete a survey on their experiences. We would also like to interview people about their experiences in order to gain a more in-depth understanding of their decision-making processes, engagement with health care practitioners and their perspectives on the outcomes of their procedures.

Ethics approval number: 2017/1010

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

  • Aged 18 years or over
  • Australian resident
  • Travelled Overseas for a medical procedure in the last 12 months
