Comparing image-based dietary records with traditional food records to interpret young adults' dietary intake and improve dietary assessment methods

Take part in a research study which aims to improve dietary assessment methods as well as dietary intake, especially in young adults.

You are invited to take part in a research study which aims to improve dietary assessment methods as well as dietary intake, especially in young adults. If you wish to participate, it will involve collecting dietary data from you in the form of food images and traditional dietary records. By comparing the two mediums, we will then be able to assess your dietary intake, dietary patterns, and timing of consumption.

If you choose to participate in the study, you will be asked to take a photograph of all your meals, snacks, and beverages consumed over the course of four days using a smartphone or a camera. You will also be asked to keep a food diary for the same four days. The food diary will be completed using the Research Food Diary (Xyris) smartphone app or a paper-based alternative. This app is free to download from the App Store (Apple Inc.) or Google Play (Google LLC) and all functions of the app are free to use. A template for the paper-based food diary will be provided if you choose to use this method.

In addition to this, you will be asked to complete a short online survey, which can be completed in 5 minutes at the time and location of your choice. You will be asked to provide some basic demographic information.
