Universities First XI went to the Christmas break with an unbeaten 12-match run in the Sydney Women’s Grade cricket competition.

Universities won five of five in the Twenty20 competition and have six wins and a draw in the 50 Over competition, to head both ladders and the Club Championship.

NSW wicketkeeper and batswoman Georgia Redmayne has played a big role in the unbeaten run.

The elegant left-hander has opened for Universities in nine matches and amassed 412 runs at the wonderful average of 68.7. Her big aggregate was bolstered by a career best 162 against Northern District in their Round 3 clash.

Now in her fifth season with Universities, the Alstonville-raised all-rounder has 2067 runs to her credit at the healthy average of 42.18.

Universities Second Grade are in seventh place on the competition ladder which is headed by St George-Sutherland, while the club has two teams in contention in Third Grade,

Universities Blue head the Third Grade ladder, with St George-Sutherland, Gordon and Universities Gold making up the top four.

The Sydney Women’s grade competition will resume on January 10 with Universities to take on Gordon in a Twetny20 fixture at David Phillips Oval.

Third Grade (40 overs)

St George-Sutherland 5-202 off 40 overs (Stephanie Gillett 53 ret not out; Leanne Pond 43; Cleo Arathoon 2-27, Isabeau Gavel 2-30) defeated Universities Gold 47 off 18 overs (Kate Edwards 10; Leanne Pond 3-8, Amy Watson 3-23, Stephanie Gillett 2-8) by 155 runs at Bella Vista Oval on Saturday.
