Delivered in person, our part-time MBA is designed for professionals looking to become more effective communicators, inspiring managers and leading thinkers.

Study your MBA at a world top 20 university*, where you'll delve deep to unlock the ambition within, and refine your leadership skills for the real world. Our part-time MBA caters to the career demands of busy managers and is delivered at our convenient CBD campus.

We keep the cohort for this MBA small and you can complete the program in two-to-three years of part-time study. It consists of 12 units of study – an integrated core of seven units, an industry capstone unit and up to four electives chosen by you.

There are a number of scholarships available for part-time MBA students.

Please note: Admission to the part-time MBA is by interview only. Only shortlisted applicants will be invited to interview. The interview panel consists of the MBA Director and an MBA alumnus.

Step 1: Check the admission criteria

You will need to meet the necessary admission criteria before you will be considered for entry. Please check the admission criteria above.

Step 2: Apply online

If you are an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or New Zealand citizen, you can complete your application online.

In order to complete your application online you will need the following documents:

  • Your academic qualifications, for example, completion year and grade average
  • Your employment history/professional details
  • A one-page statement of motivation outlining what you hope to achieve  professionally and personally by completing the part-time MBA at the University of Sydney. Please upload this document where the online process requests Supplementary forms (immediately after the request for transcripts)

Documents can be submitted in MS Word, RTF or PDF formats.

If the results of your previous study aren't available by the closing date, you can still submit an application. Your application will be considered, providing you forward any outstanding results once they become available.

In order to secure a place in your preferred semester you are encouraged to apply in an early admission round.

Step 3: Interview

If you are shortlisted for the part-time MBA we will invite you to attend a selection interview to establish your suitability. These interviews generally take place in the month following the application deadline. We will contact you with more information.

This course is not available to students who require a student visa to study in Australia.

Master of Business Administration

To be eligible for admission, an applicant is required to have:

  • an Australian bachelor's degree or higher with a credit average (65 percent) or equivalent qualification; and
  • at least three years' work experience;

    or

  • The University of Sydney Graduate Diploma in Business Administration with a credit average (65 percent). Units completed in the graduate diploma can be credited to the master's degree.

Graduate Diploma in Business Administration

To be considered for admission, an applicant is required to have:

  • an Australian bachelor's degree or higher qualification or equivalent; and
  • at least five years' work experience with at least three years in a managerial role.

In exceptional circumstances the School may admit candidates without these qualifications who, in the opinion of the School, have qualifications and evidence of experience and achievement sufficient to successfully undertake the award.

Students are able to apply to upgrade from the graduate diploma to the master's degree, upon achieving a credit average (65 percent for the first four units).

Please note that the part-time MBA and Graduate Diploma in Business Administration are currently not available to international students studying on a student visa.
