The University of Sydney Business School has reimagined its award-winning Job Smart employability program for international students, offering even more opportunities for industry experience and career coaching.

Offered exclusively to international students enrolled to study at the Business School, Job Smart Edge will focus on developing core skills critical to thriving in a competitive job market.

Students will participate in digital industry projects, receive personalised coaching from the Business School's dedicated team of career coaches and have the opportunity to build industry connections with high growth start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and leading organisations such as Deloitte, KPMG and PwC.

Graduates are equipped with highly valued and real-world experiences, giving them an edge over other candidates.

“It’s no secret that we are operating in a job market that is being fundamentally disrupted. However, disruption brings opportunity. That’s why we have reimagined our employability program to create Job Smart Edge, with more opportunities to become job ready,” explained Professor Suresh Cuganesan, Associate Dean (Student Success and Mobility) at the Business School.

“Collaborating with their peers and industry partners to solve key challenges for high impact organisations means graduates are equipped with highly valued and real-world experiences, giving them an edge over other candidates.”

The program complements the academic offering at the Business School and is a one-stop-shop for international students looking to enhance their soft skills and gain industry experience.

As a former international student and now Program Manager of Job Smart, Hashendra Wijesinha said, “I can’t stress enough the value the program offers in building confidence, expanding networks and most importantly, how to manoeuvre in a particularly challenging job market.”

Postgraduate international students will be able to use their Job Smart Edge experience towards their units of study, getting them closer to the degree completion.

Since the program was established four years ago, 7,952 international students have completed Job Smart, the award-winning program on which Job Smart Edge is based.

According to the 2020 QS Graduate Employability Rankings, University of Sydney graduates were the fourth most sought-after in the world.
