Dr Chiara O’Reilly teaches across the Postgraduate Museum and Heritage studies program. She has extensive experience as an academic and has also worked for cultural organisations. Her research examines museum and gallery history, collections, exhibitions and audience experience. In addition, she has expertise on the history of nineteenth century French art, the rise of landscape painting and science and history.
Her research has been published in the Journal of the History of Collections, Museum Management and Curatorship and Museums and Social Issues and she co-authored a book on the history of Blockbusters Exhibitions in Australian Museums and Galleries (Routledge, 2019).
She is currently part of a number of collaborative research projects including “Museums as sites of Civil Society” and is also part of the “Nanosonic stories” team examining sound as a tool of science communication.
